There’s much to share about improvements to our high performance computing services, exciting collaborative work on drone technology, and what we hope will be helpful tips on keeping access to your information secure. The small remaining dependencies on Rosetta 2 will be removed in a future release.I’m happy to share this edition of Innovations outlining the work that was done over the summer months and early in the semester to improve our services, sharpen our systems, upgrade classrooms, and speed up our network. However, once the app installation is complete, performance is greatly improved because the primary functions of the app no longer use Rosetta 2. The new Code42 app optimized for Mac devices with the M1 processor requires Rosetta 2 to complete the installation process.Fixed an issue introduced in version 8.8.0 on Windows devices where the Process name in Task Manager appeared as "Code42-App-Launcher." Now the name once again appears as "Code42.".Both versions of the app are available from the App Downloads screen in the Code42 console.Intel-based Macs continue to use the existing Code42 app.Devices with the M1 processor will automatically switch to the new optimized app during the upgrade to version 8.8.2.Improved performance on Macs with the Apple M1 processorĪ dedicated Code42 app optimized for devices with the M1 (Apple Silicon) processor offers better performance on M1 devices. ![]() Fixed an issue introduced with the Code42 cloud release on January 26th where some users were temporarily unable to back up or restore files.For users who sign in to the US2 cloud, updated the Code42 console sign-in screen with the CrashPlan for Small Business logo and added links to sign in to other Code42 products.Other performance and stability improvements.Fixed an issue where Code42 app upgrades could fail to download for devices connected to the Internet via a proxy server.Fixed an issue where the proxy auto-config (PAC) file was not evaluated correctly if the last line in the file was a comment (starting with //).Fixed an issue affecting some Mac devices where the user was always detected as being "present.".For Macs with an external graphics cards (eGPU), fixed an issue where the Code42 app could prevent proper disconnection of the eGPU.Mac devices no longer use audio and video activity to determine if the user is away or present.Fixed an issue where the file verification scan ran more frequently than scheduled on some devices.The Apple System Report settings could list the Code42 application type as "iOS." Now, it correctly displays "Apple Silicon.".Rosetta 2 was required to complete the installation process (even though the primary functions of the app did not use Rosetta 2).The Code42 app could use unexpectedly high amounts of memory.Fixed several issues for Macs with the M1 processor where:.Fixed a rare issue where attempting to restore files from the Code42 console could fail with the message "Status: Error calculating totals.Now, restoring to the original location between devices with M1 and Intel processors works as expected. On Macs, fixed an issue where files could not be restored to the "original location" if the source backup device and target restore device had different processor types.Performance and stability improvements.
